If you want to keep most of your stock apps (like S Pen apps) while making your Galaxy Note super smooth/fast, you can try the Rocket ROM or the RoMow ROM, which is just as good.
How good are these ROMs over stock ROMs?
You will literally get rid of any “lag” and TouchWiz interface becomes super-smooth like butter while your battery life catapults to another level.
No, seriously though, Rocket ROM and the RoMow ROM are the best Galaxy Note ROMs I̵
If you want some really good performance, overclocking, and super-smooth action on your rooted Galaxy Note, I highly recommend you to try the Rocket ROM, which allows for up to 1.704Ghz overclocking, better battery life, and gives you “wings” with its optimized graphics. Even without overclocking, the Rocket ROM gives you very smooth transitions over the stock ROM.

According to Samsung’s official statement couple weeks back, ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) for the Galaxy Note will be here shortly in first quarter of 2012.
For those of you who can’t wait, you can go ahead and try ICS yourself (and runs rather good) by installing CyanogenMod9 (CM9) ROM on your rooted Galaxy Note.
You will lose features like your Camera and S-Pen but the CM9 ICS ROM runs very smooth otherwise and you can get a feel of what the Galaxy Note would run like with the official ICS.

For those of you who are installing new ROMs, you will certainly want to learn to use Titanium Backup app to backup and restore your apps.
So when you install a new ROM, you can easily restore all your apps without manually installing them from the Market.
Before we begin, you will need a rooted Galaxy Note.
Step 1. Download Titanium Backup app from the Market and open the app.
Step 2. Choose “Schedules” and hit “RUN” to backup all

What’s next?
Well, before you begin modding your newly rooted Galaxy Note and installing a bunch of new ROMs, I highly recommend you to make at least one backup of your rooted stock ROM.
Why?
Things can always go wrong but by having a backup ROM, you can always restore back to it no matter what.
Besides that, you can learn to backup/restore ROMs on the go with multiple ROMs using ClockworkMod Recovery. This will allow you to change ROMs without losing your personal settings
For those of you rooted Galaxy Note users who want to install/backup/restore ROM on your phone, you will want to install ClockworkMod Recovery.
Before we begin, make sure you’ve rooted your Galaxy Note.
This method is the safest method to install ClockworkMod Recovery. Although you can use ODIN/Heimdall to flash this too, we don’t recommend it as some may end up bricking their phone. With this method, you can really go wrong.
