Note: For Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Unlocked/International/Asian/European, see this root method instead!!!

Step 1. Hold down Volume Down and Power button together until your phone resets.  Let go of the Power button and keep holding down Volume Down when your phone resets, you will feel a slight vibration.

Step 2. When you see the below warning screen, hit Volume Up button and you will get into Download mode.

Step 3. Connect a micro USB cable to your Galaxy Note and computer.

Step 4. Make sure you have Samsung Kies installed.  If you do, you will see “SAMSUNG Mobile USB CDC Composite Device” under Device Manager.  If you don’t see it, download Samsung Kies and simply run it to install (then unplug and plug the micro USB cable to your Galaxy Note.)

    • AlbinoRhino says:

Yes, but instead of using Odin you will use Heimdall.

      • Willie says:

I’ve tried using Heimdall, but it won’t work with Mac 10.7+ I’ve also tried using Odin wrapped in Wine, but it doesn’t recognize the USB ports. I’ve been looking tirelessly for a way to root my i717 on the latest Mac OSX and so far I’ve had no success. I wish someone would develop a proper Mac client.

    Hi;
    I have a boot-loop problem on a rooted Samsung Galaxy Note i717.
Here are the details of what was happen before and after rooted:

    1. I have used your method of Rooting and install ClockworkMod Recovery; every thing works well after rooted and I even did have one good backup using the ClockworkMod Recovery.
    2. Think go wrong when I installed the “Titanium Backup PRO Key ★ root” and use it to backup apps.
my setting was “backup all apps, user data, and system data >> then reboot the device”; after reboot I lost my 4G network and could not even make a phone call.
    3. So I went ahead and reset thing back to “factory setting” by:
    3a. “wipe cache partition”
    3b. “wipe data/factory reset”
    3c. “reboot system now”
    4. From here on, I just keep getting a boot-loop into “ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.7
PS. I event removed the battery and put it back still did not help.

Can you help me out of this mess.
    Thank you
    Dat; nhatrang71@yahoo.com

Hi, I was trying to root my note but when unzip the GALAXYNoteRootl717.zip
I got the 3 files you mention in your video but the pda file is still a WinRar archive not a .tar, Why is that happening, because if I unzip again the pda.rar file I just get a boot disc image file.
    What I am doing wrong?
Please help because I am stuck here, thanks in advance for your help.

Hey guys, for those who are having problems with Super User, it seems like there was a problem with the server yesterday. Try connecting to the Super User again or reinstalling the app to see if it works.
It seems that a lot of other people were having that problem yesterday (March 22nd)
