C-ROM + Forest Kernel for Galaxy Note GT-N7000!

For this week’s Galaxy Note GT-N7000 ROM of the Week, check out C-ROM along with Forest kernel.

Based on latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat, C-ROM brings you a high-level of customization along with the latest Google Camera.  I also found that performance is greatly improved when you use Forest kernel along with it.

C-ROM is a new breed on the custom ROM market today and what’s really hot “right now”.  You will find many of the custom AOSP features you are used to such as customizing your status bar, interface, and UI.  And also C-ROM includes goodies like PIE Control, HALO, Appbar, Gesture Anywhere, OmniSwitch, Active Display, custom animations, LCD Density, and more.

My favorite feature on the ROM itself is the “On-The-Go Mode”.  Turn this feature on in Settings->C-Tool->Interface and you will be able to toggle it in your Power Menu.   Upon turning on, your home screen will turn transparent with your back camera replaced as background.  What is this for?  It’s great when you are on-the-go in the streets while using your Note so you don’t run into others while fully focusing on your job at hand.  I’ve seen plenty of times where people are walking the street almost killing themselves watching their phones.  This won’t prevent that completely but it will definitely help for those of you who commute to work everyday or live in busy urban cities like New York City.

As for Forest kernel, it vastly improves performance on the ROM itself and gets rid of any lag whatsoever.  You do not need to change any CPU settings for this to work, just install the kernel after installing the ROM.  There’s currently no overclocking on the kernel itself but the developer of the kernel is adding overclocking soon, I should have an update by next ROM of the Week.

Overall, C-ROM is definitely one of the best KitKat AOSP ROMs out there so definitely give it a twhirl this week(end) and do let me know what you think!
