For this week’s ROM of the week for AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-i717 and Note 10.1 GT-N8000/GT-N8013/GT-N8010, check out latest Android 4.3-based PACMan ROM.

Packing in the latest AOKP MR2, CM10.2 RC0, and ParanoidAndroid 3.99, PACMan brings you the best of all 3 custom ROMs in one, allowing you to enjoy full AOKP ROM Control Settings to fully customize your UI/system, run your device in tablet/phone/hybrid mode using ParanoidAndroid Hybrid Settings, and get the latest features from CM10.2.

You will be able to enjoy the latest Android 4.3 to the fullest while enjoying a ton of customization offered by custom ROM settings.  I am personally running PACMan ROM currently on my daily driver Note 2 and it also gets some excellent battery life.

  1. A12 says:

I thought the Galaxy Note 10.1 only came with the WXGA screen.

  2. Rafal says:

does it support any of the s pen functionality … I find none of these sweet roms support the spen … which is one of the most important features on the note.
I almost feel like you shouldn’t waste your time reviewing anything without that functionality. Unless I’m just alone in this?

    • Brian Hill says:

No I agree with you… without the sPen you might as well buy a tab2 or 3

    • Rukiya says:

I also agree that the Spen functionality is vital, or like the previous poster said…I wouldnhave bought a tab.

      • alejandro says:

Has anyone found an answer for this? I also wanna keep the s-pen apps, but stock JB is laggy according to people so it has to be a custom rom including this functionality

  3. charles says:

hey max, quick question, whats the difference between the att i717 and the telus i717d, will att i717 roms work with the i717d?

  4. Angel says:

It’s pretty cool except when I view pictures In my gallery it constantly shuts off then back on and most of the time I try to use apps like a network booster like I used on the blackstar rom it shuts down

  5. John says:

I’ve been using this rom for a few weeks now. First with uber 4.3 and now with the stock kernel coming with it. I always do a clean instal. Yes, significant improvement with the reboot problem with this rom BUT the f*** this thing drain battery ….1% per min!!!! Honestly, if I could fix the bat issue this would be the best ROM available for months! If anyone finds a solution let me know.

  6. Master says:

    Hi Max,

    How about the LTE version

  7. Bryan says:

This is an excellent rom. It does have issues, but minor on my galaxy note. The only real issue is the power button, I have to hit it couple of times for it to wake up. While the s-pen does work, it does not work as well if it had the premiun suite from samsung. On my phone the rom is fast. I really like this rom. If more s-pen functionality could be put in, and the power button issuefixed, this rom gets an a+ from me. I always wait for your reviews before romming my phone. Thanks for your had work.

  8. Darin says:

i am having a real problem with forced restarted. the rom worked for a couple weeks but now it seems that almost every time i open anything after a couple minutes it will force reboot. and most of the time when it force reboots it also come back on with a dead battery…. anyone have any info on how to fix this issue?? almost makes me want to go back to the stock ROM…..

  9. Surajhodi says:

plz tell which kernel installed to work this rom??????
    plz give thread…to kernel

  10. Eric says:

When i install it says eroor install aborted why??

  11. Rafal says:

Hey Max, is KitKat with S-Pen too much of a dream for our Notes?

Can you mention S-Pen functionality in your ROM reviews please… I get excited with your video reviews of all these awesome new roms and then get a nasty wake-up call when I find it doesn’t support S-Pen.

Thank you .. and keep up the awesome job.

  12. VoiceBoxx says:

As usual, Pac is slam full of fun functions (nice alliteration :). So many good things to say about it…and i keep finding something new in the settings. I too am having to hit the power button of few times to get it to come back on. BUT! the biggest uh oh moment was playing with the App Bar. Holy Hell! System UI crashed and the whole house came down lol. I would love to hear if anyone else had this issue. Just make sure you Backup before you mess with anything in the “Setup Appbar Content”. Tried wiping Cache…Stopping any app/resource that wasn’t necessary…disabling the appbar does nothing and i can’t even get into the Content to change it back to default. Anyone got a suggestion? Next step is reflashing… Thanks

  13. camylo javillonar says:

hey! great ROM um.. how do you fix the modem on the SGH-I717R? I kinda don’t get network service… not even LTE or HSDPA+ please reply 🙂 It’ll make this ROM a WHOLE LOT COOLER 🙂 thanks 🙂

  14. albert says:

It does not work with N8010, “installation avorted” appears in recovery when you try to flash it. No matter if you previously format /system/,… it always appears the same. So can’t try with N8010.

  15. Mina says:

Hi Max, is WiFi Direct working here in this Rom ?

  16. Earl says:

Well, I must say. The PacMan rom is nice (9-27-13), I really like it alot. One problem though. After rebooting into the system and getting the system setup. Well Google Play Store works alright for a while then I start getting download error messages. Any solutions to that? Other than that, this is a fine rom. Will try installing it with the new TWRP program and see what happens.

  17. Yousef says:

Hi, thank you for posting about this pacman rom, I tried it, its awesome and I love it. I have one problem though, the video recording has no sound. I have the N8010 model. Did anybody else experience this issue? Is there a solution?
