  1. Chadman says:

Dang. Horrible ROM for me. Reboot city. Can’t even get past the setup process w/o a reboot. Tried several install attempts, no love.

  2. Steve says:

Works well for me. I make sure to do factory reset that formats system, cache etc in CWM. Run it twice and format cache and go to advanced to format Dalvik cache. Then install the rom, and install the P0llutions patch. Gapps is optional.

The only thing I still can’t figure out is how to activate the GPS hardware on the i717.

    • Chadman says:

Right on. I had better luck after I left off Gapps, but still had the screen flicker problem, even after patching. Bummer.

    • Steve says:

ok, all works well. i have the spen & GPS apps working. Performance is good. There are lots of good options. make sure to read all the posted links for how to do things. I like it.

  3. Big Wheel says:

Love this ROM. I only encounter 2 issues so far and been running for almost 4 days. Sometimes when I run video in Facebook, the screen starts to fuzz and the phone reboots. The other issue is that the clock does not give me any fuctions (i.e. alarm, stop clock). But I love this ROM upgrade from Beanstalk. Nice job. (I’m new to this root thing also.)

    • Big Wheel says:

Ok, I had to remove this ROM, very buggy. However I really did enjoy the ROM. Video feeds freezes phone and causes it to reboot. No talk to text. And clock does not have any functions other that telling the time. I had to download an app for alarm. Still a nice ROM please fix bugs.

  4. Dave says:

I got to the patch you said to install and i believe it has bricked my note….so sad because i just got this phone today

  5. Chris says:

    Hey, Max.
I’ve been trying every way that I can think of to install that Pollutions patch with LS, and I don’t think I’m getting it right. This ROM is really nice, although it is flickering like crazy. I can’t even view anything in Chrome unless it has a white background. Looks like the colors of choice are black and white for this ROM.
Would you be able to give me a little better idea of how to install this patch (or at least the order of which to install). The directions in the KitKat video didn’t really lay out when to install a patch.
    Thanks a ton!

  6. Carl says:

is this safe to use on N7005?

  7. joe says:

My radio doesn’t work now. I was using able to use previous with simple mobile and now I switched to metro. Same towers but says emergency call only… Anything I can do?

  8. jose says:

Mine didn’t come with contacts app… is there a kitkat version so I can seemed them?

    • Rich says:

from what i remember on my limited time on Liquid…i think it’s called PEOPLE on there or something. Has the same icon as Contacs did but just named different.

  9. asia says:

I’ve had this since late July. It worked well at first but it won’t let me take videos, YouTube videos won’t work, they get Grey and choppy. Half the time my camera doesn’t work, and this past week its started restarting constantly after my screen turns off. Its draining my battery so fast. How do I fix this ? Can I just download another ROM or do I have to delete this first ?

  10. Richard says:

A couple of weeks for me on my Note i717. Love the overclocking and stepping up the min processor speed. Lagginess is much better and it operates on par with my S3. Huge difference on Google Maps with satellite image loading times. Very snappy.
Sometimes Youtube video is blocky longitudinally but a pause and start solves all problems.
Biggest issue is I can’t find any way to direct camera storage to my SD Card.
I needed 4.4 to run a commercial app on Android. So this solved a nice problem for me.
    Any help is welcome.
Battery life is much better than stock.
    Thanks for posting Max!
Are you liking the OnePlus One ROM better than this LS + Uber?

  11. Old Dude says:

Your galaxy rooting guide may need to be updated so it has the latest version of clockworkmod in it. Your link to the older v5.5.0.4 seems to have caused frustrating problems for installing any of the kitkat roms. I’ve just been getting one status 7 error after another. Forgive me if I seem upset.

I even tried following your guide to correct the status 7 error by erasing part of a script file in the roms. That only caused one status 7 error to be replaced by another one further along the install process when I tried installing the latest version of AOKP. I’m too frustrated to bother trying that again with other roms. That is mainly because I suspect I would be wasting my time again.

Thank goodness your tutorial at least helped me to have a working backup of my system. But I have lost confidence in everyone’s tutorials. This whole experience has become more irritating than my stock software’s lag. If I could do this over again, I wouldn’t have even started. But thanks to you I have crossed the Rubicon.

According to various posts at xda updating cwm may be the only way I will be able to try kitkat roms such as AOKP, Liquidsmooth, and Beanstalk. I may as well go for it rather than waste all of the effort you have lured me into spending. Maybe you can make a tutorial for safely updating the outdated software you have been referencing. But I’m probably going to find another source for that information too.

But I’m a forgiving person. Maybe I will give your advice a try again some day.

  12. Old Dude says:

After a little more effort I got my fix and now I’m high on android.

Here is a link to a zip of the newer version of clockworkmod which seems to simplify flashing kitkat roms. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47567151&postcount=4

Just follow Max’s instructions except do this before you flash the zip for the new rom: Instead flash the zip for the updated version of clockworkmod I mentioned above. Then choose the reboot into recovery option. You will find yourself in a much more convenient version of clockworkmod which can flash kitkat roms! Make another backup of your old rom. Delete the backups made with the old version of clockworkmod to save space. Finally, flash the zip for your new rom!

Don’t forget to install gapps after you flash your new rom. Before you reboot to your new rom flash gapps the way you flashed your new rom. I installed the official google stock package from this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942

By the way, maybe that newer version of cwm can read the older backups. I didn’t test that. I suggest you don’t test it too.

I chose to install AOKP kitkat which I got from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609761 That rom seems to be a no-frills version of kitkat that is very snappy. I don’t know how pretty it would have been if I only installed the mini-gapps package as recommended by the person who offered the rom on xda forums.

I didn’t test Liquidsmooth because I discarded it when the older version of cwm kept aborting the installation of it. I thought it was the rom. It turned out to be the old version of cwm. But now we know how to deal with that.

As I stated in my rant to Max earlier in this thread, I have regretted trying this experience. But now that I have taken control of my phone away from the big telecoms, (and instead turned my trust over to a stranger who modifies code…), I feel good. I’m now high on android! Thanks Max!

  13. youplaou says:

Best Kit Kat ROM try up to now, everything run smooth but drain battery like hell :-(

    • youplaou says:

Finally battery usage is quite good, only big annoying problem remaining is echo during phone call, otherwise really nice ROM.

It is a shame that Samsung do not provide Kit Kat ROM for i717, like the phone but it will be my first and last Samsung handset, will go back to Apple now iPhone 6 as larger screen. Even when Samsung make new ROM available (JB), it is damned slow as they have to gone through mobile phone operator who take months to make minimal and useless Android modification, why not propose a Samsung upgrade independent of operator as you can get when buying handset from Google ?

    Hi all,

need help with my phone SGH i717 AT&T. not hearing when making/receiving calls. i’m thinking mic issues. anyone who has experienced this issue? and how to fix it?

  15. Richard says:

Can’t pick where to save photo/video files. Would like them to go the the sd card. Any ideas?

  16. Joe says:

    Hi,
I have an issue with my Galaxy Note I717 and using the phone. I have flashed the modems and they work like they are supposed to, but only for a short time. When the modem stops working (when I call someone they can’t hear me and I can’t hear them) after a short amount of time, say around an hour or two after restarting it stops working. I was wondering what the possible problems could be with my phone. And I have done a clean install. I wiped my cache and delvik 3 times as well as formatting my handset 3 times. I can deal with the phone issue for now, but it is starting to get very annoying and I can’t find anything on the different forums about my problem. I have probably spent over 10 hours searching for my issue.
    Thanks.

    5. Flash pollutions ROM patch
    Go through those steps

  21. einjelhart says:
