Stock Android 4.1.2 Firmware with Root for AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-i717!

For those of you who have been waiting for awhile for official Jelly Bean for your AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-i717, it is finally here.

You can grab the rooted version that you can flash using your CWM/TWRP recovery OR you can also grab the totally-official, non-rooted version you can flash using ODIN.

How is the stock Android 4.1.2? Frankly, it’s very laggy and I don’t actually recommended, I do recommend trying Padawan JB ROM instead along with PhaseKernel.

A ported version of CM10.1, Chameleon OS ROM is an Android 4.2.2 AOSP ROM that focuses on its ability to install many different themes including MIUI themes, very similar to Avatar ROM.

Chameleon OS ROM also comes with its own custom ChaOS launcher, a modified version of CM10.1 Trebuchet launcher that includes three different folder icon styles and supports folder sorting in alphabetical order.

For this week’s AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-i717 ROM of the week, check out ParanoidKangDroid ROM.

Built specifically only for the SGH-i717, ParanoidKangDroid ROM is another great “hybrid” AOSP ROM (what is AOSP?) that’s a mix of AOKP, CM10.1, and ParanoidAndroid ROMs.

It’s very similar to JellyBAM ROM as far as major features of AOKP ROM Control and ParanoidAndroid Settings but you will find some different customization menus in this ROM.

Here’s a quick update on the latest Avatar ROM.  Latest Avatar ROM comes with CM10.1 Android 4.2.2, Bazooka Launcher, and more free downloadable themes.

I know some of you were having trouble with the Android 4.1.2 version but the latest Android 4.2.2 version is more stable than ever and you shouldn’t have issues with sound (Working fine with Google Play Music).

Also I do notice much speed/performance improvements.  There’s no overclocking on this ROM but it really doesn’t need one as it runs super-fast.

The latest JellyBeer ROM is decent if you want to run the latest Android 4.2.2 (as I was having problems with USB connection on CM10.1). Other than giving you the latest Android 4.2.2 experience, the JellyBeer ROM also adds to it by giving you ParanoidAndroid-like Phone/Phablet/Tablet mode UI, DPI group (run apps in Phone/Tablet mode), and also the full CyanogenMod settings (just like CM10.1 ROM).

Looking for a good stable ROM for your AT&T Galaxy Note SGH-i717?

If you haven’t tried the latest Padawan ROM by XDA user Ptmr3 (Follow him on Twitter), definitely this is one of the first custom ROMs to try on the SGH-i717 (also works for Canadian SGH-i717M). Definitely one of my “go to” ROMs, the Padawan ROM gives you speediness and powers of Sony Bravia Engine 2, Note 2 Gallery/icons, and performance improvements you will notice right away.
